Man crashes car in tunnel from holding his

May 26, 2014 by Troy Davis

We all hold our breaths. Sometimes we go underwater; we play a game of who can hold it the longest, but holding your breath going through a tunnel and causing a car accident is something i would not recommend to anyone.
Oregon police have charged a nineteen year old with reckless endangerment and fourth degree assault. Daniel Clahon told authorities he fainted after holding his breath in a tunnel on highway 26 near Manning, OR.

Daniel caused a three car accident when he held his breath and passed out as he drove through the tunnel NW of Portland. His car, a Toyota Camry, crossed the center line and struck a SUV head on. Both vehicles struck the walls inside the tunnel. A Pickup truck then struck the Camry.
Four people including the driver who held his breath suffered minor injuries.

Although this sounds funny, it could have been much worse. I am surprised at people’s reckless behavior when other lives are at stake. You are responsible for the safety of the passengers in your vehicle; deliberately putting their welfare at risk is just plain stupid.
Some people hold their breaths in tunnels as part of a game or superstition. Sounds like these folks should just take the long way around.
